WELCOME TO MOMENTUM – FALL 2020

Momentum is defined as the strength or force that allows something to continue or to grow stronger or faster as time passes. It is our desire to help you continue and grow in your faith. We are excited to offer a variety of classes that cover important topics. You will find many opportunities to learn to grow in your Christian walk, strengthen your faith, and share your hope in Jesus Christ. We look forward to giving you the tools necessary to get you started! Please take a minute to look over classes offered and complete the registration form. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. – 2 Timothy 2:15

Laborers Together,

Steve Allen, Pastor of Ministry and Missions

Please register no later than one week prior to all classes so adequate materials will be available. Social distancing will be observed. Please wear a mask if social distancing is not possible.

THE RACE

At Northside, we call our spiritual development process “THE RACE.” Hebrews 12:1 tells us to “run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Paul said, “I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Unfortunately, many people start the race strong but never finish, either getting discouraged or hindered by the sins that easily trip us up. Our desire is that each member crosses the finish line a winner!

Running Together (4-Part Membership Class)

Teacher: Rich Cochran
Dates: Sundays, October 11,18, 25 & November 1
Time: 11 AM – 12 NOON
Location: Room 133
Cost: None

If you’ve ever run, you’ve probably discovered that it is more enjoyable and much easier when you are running with someone else. God never intended us to run alone—that’s the purpose of the church. In this class, we will learn about four things that unite us as we “run” together—Our Salvation Story, Our Mission/Vision/Strategy, Our Beliefs and Values, and Our Commitments. Because Northside is made up of people from many different backgrounds, this experience is intended to clearly explain who we are, what we believe, and how to get connected. Childcare (ages 11 and under) will be provided by reservation only. Completion of this class is required for membership.

It Takes Discipline

Teacher: Steve Allen
Two Dates offered:
Sunday, September 20 (one session class)
Sunday, November 1 (one session class)
Time: 2:00 – 6:00 PM
Cost: None
Location: Room 253

Childcare (ages 11 and under) will be provided by reservation only. Running a race requires discipline. Our enthusiasm will help us get started but it won’t take us across the finish line. The same is true in the Christian life. That’s why the Bible says, “Take the time and trouble to keep yourself spiritually fit.” In this class you learn the spiritual disciplines that are critical to your success in “The Race” God has called us all to run. Deadline to register for childcare is the Wednesday before the class. Prerequisite: Running Together.

Finding Your Stride

Teacher: Steve Allen
Dates: Sunday, October 25 (one session class)
Time: 2:00 – 6:00 PM
Cost: None
Location: Room 253

Childcare (ages 11 and under) will be provided by reservation only. This class is designed for you to discover how your personality, gifts, passions, and life experiences can all be used to serve others. “Finding Your Stride” sets the pace for living your life to the fullest by finding what God has created you to do (Phil 3:13-14). Deadline to register for childcare is the Wednesday before the class. Prerequisite: Running Together.

Pass It On

Teacher: Steve Allen
Dates: Sunday, November 8 (one session class)
Time: 2:00 – 6:00 PM

Location: Room 253

Childcare (ages 11 and under) will be provided by reservation only. Are you ready to continue your spiritual journey into Pass it On? This is an exciting experience to teach you how to use your gifts, talents and life story to lead others into the Kingdom of God. Your eyes will be opened to the fields that God lays in front of you each day. Whether it is across the street or around the world, this experience invites you to change the world one life at a time. Deadline to register for childcare is the Wednesday before the class. Prerequisite: Running Together.

The Book of ACTS

Daughters of the King Ladies Bible Study Group (in progress, accepting new participants)

Teacher: Sue Sandidge
Dates: Sundays, beginning September 20
Time: 4:00 – 6:00 PM
Cost: None, Study Notes will be provided
Location: Room 134

The Acts of the Apostles, the fifth book of the New Testament, is a valuable history of the early Christian church. It begins with the ascension of Christ, continues with the account of the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles at Pentecost and the spread of the Gospel to the Gentiles. The missionary journeys of Paul are followed, giving insight into the letters written by Paul. Join us, as we learn how lessons in the early church are still relevant today.

STUDY AT THE TABLE with Women of N ZOOM Bible Study

THE BOOK OF TITUS – with CHIP INGRAM

Offered at various times beginning September 21 – November 9 (8 sessions) via RightNow Media

In this Book of the Bible series, Chip Ingram unpacks the book of Titus. He challenges us to display the gospel in our lives through doing good. We do good works not to earn God’s favor, but as a result of God’s favor. When the gospel has truly taken root in our lives, it produces the fruit of godliness. As we pass these things on to future generations, the Church stands in bright contrast to the darkness of the world.

HOUSE OF PRAYER

When: Wednesdays (resumes September 9)

Time: 6:00 – 7:00 PM

Location: Auditorium

Today there is a desperate need for men and women of God who know how to pray: People who will not be satisfied with what they can accomplish in their power. Instead, they long to see the power and the glory of the Living God invade the Church with supernatural displays of His Deity! Jesus said, “My house shall be called a house of prayer.” The phrase house of prayer is from Isaiah 56:7, where it is used twice: “These [foreigners] I will bring to My holy mountain and give them joy in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on My altar; for My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.”

The church in Acts was birthed out of a prayer meeting. The great Revivals in America were begun with prayer! It is time for Christ-followers to fall on their knees and pray to the One who can change our country, our community, our church, our families, and our very lives through the power of the Holy Spirit.

It is clear that the place where believers worship will be a place of prayer. It is our desire that Northside will be known as a HOUSE OF PRAYER. Join Pastor Rocky as we gather for a time of prayer and worship. A time where we humble ourselves and ask our Heavenly Father to show us mercy and to anoint our lives and our church with His power! Asking for revival in our world and lifting needs in our church to the Lord. Simply come, no registration is needed.
