GMC COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT MONTH

Northside is gearing up for OCTOBER MISSIONS MONTH – TAKING IT TO THE STREETS! Life Groups are being challenged to serve together and take Christ’s love to our community by serving through mission / ministry projects. Check in with your Life Group and join them in being a part of God’s mission.

If you are unable to serve with your Life Group, or have interest in serving with other projects, we invite you to join one of our Life Groups in their project. See the list below, sign up and let us know you would like more information. Fill out the form below and we will get back with you soon!

G.I.F.T.

KIDS CLUB (10 – 11:30 AM) – OCTOBER 21

Minister to children through music, games, drama, snacks, and crafts. Be a part of sharing the good news of Jesus. Volunteers will be needed from 9 AM – 12 Noon.

Sonrise

MIDLANDS ORPHAN RELIEF – October
Emergency foster home donations. The class will be collecting new socks and underwear; new or “like new” shoes and clothing for children of all ages.

Disciples of Christ

Serve meals at TRANSITIONS HOMELESS CENTER – TBD
TRANSITIONS HOMELESS CENTER
2025 Main Street, Columbia, SC 29201
Class members will serve meals to the residents of the homeless shelter. The Center serves breakfast, lunch and supper to clients every day of the year, an average of 575 meals every day.

Class members will conduct Bible Study and Worship with the residents in the Activity Room to fellowship and love on the seniors there.

Church-wide donations being accepted to help:

• Purchase 2 pack-n-plays to LaVie Pregnancy Care Center

Women Encouraging Women

FILL’R UP! COLD WATER, FRESH WORD, AND PRAYER – October 28
7am-1pm @ LAKE MURRAY DAM, Irmo Side
Class members will set up a Prayer/Water station at the Lake Murray Dam. They will offer cold water, little treats for the kids and prayer. Each will receive notecards that have encouraging handwritten scripture verses for the community from the women in their class.

Wordseekers

NURSING HOME AND ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY VISITS – October
Class Members will serve by visiting various nursing homes and assisted living facilities to visit, pray and serve the Lord’s Supper. They are serving at Lakeside Place Senior Living on Highway 378, Carol Campbell Place on Old Cherokee Rd., Lexington Extended Care Old Cherokee Rd., Agape Assisted Living in West Columbia and Oakleaf Village Assisted Living on North Lake Dr. in Lexington.

Truthseekers

CARE PACKETS FOR THOSE IN NEED – TBD
Class members will meet and assemble care packets for Mission Columbia and homeless shelters, like Oliver Gospel Mission. The care packets will have soap, washcloth, comb, toothbrush and toothpaste, packaged in one gallon plastic bags. The goal is to assemble and deliver 100 bags.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD BOXES – October
Working together to build gift boxes for children in need around the world. The goal is to build a minimum of 50 boxes.

Becoming More Multiplied

OLIVER GOSPEL MISSION – October 7
Assist Oliver Gospel Mission staff with packaging coffee they are selling for a fundraiser at the State Fair.

HOME / YARD CARE FOR SENIOR ADULT MEMBER – TBD
Yardwork, clean-up, painting and windowpane repair for a LIFE Group member in need.

As One

COLLECTING SOCKS FOR LOCAL RESIDENTS IN NEED – October
Partnering with Mission Lexington in their annual Soctober Drive to collect socks and underwear for their mission store. As One will collect socks throughout October and drop off at the mission at the end of the month.

MEAL TO COMMUNITY IN NEED – October 14
OYO Hotel

Serving a lunch to the residents in need at the OYO Hotel, located near 378 and I-26.

Forever Faithful Friends

This class is involved in ongoing support of OUTSIDE THE WALLS, MISSION COLUMBIA, NORTHSIDE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY, individuals in need, Prayerwalking and other projects throughout the year.

• Servers at the LaVie Pregnancy Center Annual Fundraising Banquet – September 14
• Join WOMEN ENCOURAGING WOMEN serving water at the Dam on October 28

Lovers of Christ

HOME VISITS TO NORTHSIDE HOMEBOUND MEMBERS – October
• Class Members will conduct home visits to Northside’s homebound members.
• Continue birthday card ministry to children at Connie Maxwell Children’s Home.

PARTNER WITH S.E.A. PLACE: Support, Education, and Advisement Place offers Parenting, Financial, and G.E.D classes, and more in Lexington County, SC. Their mission is to empower those in need in our local community.
