GMC COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT WEEKND

As part of our GLOBAL MISSIONS CELEBRATION, we want to challenge members at Northside to be a part of reaching our own community through acts of service on this special GMC Saturday. There are a number of opportunities provided on Saturday, October 8 and we hope that you are able to serve in one or more of these projects. Each project is listed below and has a link provided to sign up.

Kids Adventure Club

Victorian Lakes Mobile Home Community 4801 Sunset Blvd, Lexington, SC 29072
9:30 – 12 Noon
Volunteers assist with ministering to the children of this community through music, games, drama, snacks and crafts. Be a part of sharing the good news of Jesus.

Refugee Children’s Program

3430 East Apartment Complex
3430 Kay St., Columbia, SC 29210 off S Andrews Rd.
8:30 AM – Noon
Volunteers assist in kid’s games, stories, snacks and Bible stories, teaching the nations in our back yard as we host a children’s program within refugee housing. We also need volunteers to serve coffee and fellowship with the parents who will attend with their children.

Outside the Walls

(Exact times and projects to be announced)
Several projects will be available to use talents and skills with construction, landscape and home maintenance “outside the walls” of the church while sharing the love of Christ, primarily to, the elderly and single moms, who could not repair or perform needed projects for their homes. When you sign up, please indicate what type of project you are interested in participating.

Meal for International Students

6:00 PM
Engage with the nations with our Northside LIFE Group, Vessels of Light, as they provide dinner to USC international students with our mission partners, International Friendship Ministries. Volunteers are needed to help unload and carry food into the building, assist in
serving, but more importantly, to eat with and engage with the students, and share the hope of Christ.

Neighborhood Food Drives

Use provided door-hangers in your own and other neighborhoods one week before, by October 1, then pick up groceries left by your neighbors on Saturday, October 08, and return them to the collection site at Northside. All collected items will go toward MISSION
COLUMBIA, to feed those in need in our own community.

Salvation Bracelets Assembly

Northside Lexington Campus in Multipurpose Room

Salvation Bracelets will be assembled for mission trips. A wonderful ministry to equip and pray for our teams and those who will receive these bracelets.

Prayerwalking

Prayerwalk in your neighborhood or other neighborhoods and let folks know you prayed for them by leaving a door-hanger with an invitation to Northside.

Inner City Mission

Work with Eau Claire Baptist Church, a local inner city church, with “work day” projects and prayerwalking to assist them in reaching their community.

Coats for the City

SC Baptists are collecting new and gently used heavy coats, scarves, gloves and hats to distribute to those in need in New York. We are also collecting jackets and coats for Mission Columbia, to bless those in our own community. Please drop your donations in the collection
area the weekend of October 9. No need to sign up, but please participate in this much needed ministry!

 

Disciples for the Streets

(A ministry to the homeless in the Red Bank area, hosted by the West Campus)

10:00 AM set up / 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM event / Cleanup
A cookout with free food, tables with donation items, free haircuts, portable showers, laundry, music and Devotion / Bible Study, will be provided. Volunteers are needed to assist in ministering to and sharing the love of Christ with those in need. A church drive will be held to collect personal care items to distribute to those in need. The list of items is listed below.

A church drive for donated items for the homeless event, DISCIPLES FOR THE STREETS, will be collected through Sunday, October 1. New items are preferred, but gently used will be accepted.

Smaller items can be donated at the collection area in the lobby of both campuses. These items are listed below:
