A WORD FROM OUR MISSIONS PASTOR

When I was younger, I thought “missions” was something only done by missionaries. My job was simply to pray for them and possibly send an offering once in a while. It was later that I understood that Jesus has called us all to be missionaries. We should all give and pray, but also we are all called to share the good news of Jesus Christ with those who are lost. Jesus gave us a mission to go and make disciples.

Does this mean we all have to sell our homes and move overseas? No, you can be a missionary right here! You can start at your school, workplace and in your neighborhood. People all around you are looking for hope, purpose and peace. Jesus gives this and more to those who accept Him.

You might think there is no way I can be a missionary. This promise from Christ should help as you seek to be “on mission” for Him. Jesus said, “But you WILL receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you WILL be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere – in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8

You have the Holy Spirit! You have the power! You have the promise! So go be witnesses because THE MISSION STARTS HERE and the MISSION STARTS WITH ME! – Steve Allen

After being a part of the Global Missions Celebration, we hope that you will commit to be a part of the mission work at Northside. We pray that Northside’s GMC will raise awareness of the Mission work at home, in our country and around the world. We will ask each member to participate by doing the following:

1. PRAY: THE MISSION STARTS HERE!

*PRAY FOR OUR MISSION PARTNERS
*PRAY FOR YOUR NEIGHBORS – Sign up for Bless Every Home, an online help that provides all the tools to get to know your neighbors by name so that you can begin to build relationships with them, pray for them and become a light for Christ in your neighborhood. CLICK HERE to sign up.

2. GIVE:
BECAUSE YOU GIVE, WE CAN SHARE CHRIST THROUGH OUR MISSION PARTNERS!

Your sacrifices help get the gospel from our own community to some of the darkest places on the globe. Commitment cards are available at the reception desk, please ask how God can use you to financially support the mission work of Northside.

Return commitment cards to Northside’s Finance Office.

What is Northside’s GLOBAL MISSIONS Offering?

It is a personal commitment you make to God to give a certain amount of money, beyond your usual tithe or offering, over the next year for the purpose of local and global missions. It is made after you have sought God’s will for the amount He wants you to give. It is based on faith, it exalts the Lord, and the potential impact is amazing! A Decision Made in Faith…This is a faith commitment. You are trusting God to guide you in determining the amount you are to give. You are also believing that He will provide the funds to fulfill your commitment. If you have determined an amount based on the Holy Spirit’s leading, then you can believe God will provide the resources or reveal ways to fulfill your offering. Together, we will have a greater impact for the Kingdom of God. The total amount pledged by all Northside members will be allocated wisely. Please review the budget provided. Thank you for your prayerful consideration and commitment.

3. THE CHALLENGE: THE MISSION STARTS WITH ME!

GO: Consider serving in SHORT TERM or LONG TERM SERVICE.

    Meet Our Guest Speaker

Wybo, Open Doors, Senior Director Global Research and Innovations

Today, more than 360 million Christians worldwide experience extreme persecution and discrimination for their faith. The mission of Open Doors, the largest network in the world serving persecuted Christians, is to stand with them and let them know they are never alone… They are part of one Church, and one Family.

They work directly with pastors and church leaders to address the most critical needs of the suffering church on the ground.

Wybo serves as consultant for various ministries and churches, with regard to Bible distribution, church planting and training how to deal with secular intolerance.

Wybo is happily married and the Lord has blessed them with two grown children, a son and daughter. Hobbies are reading, running, cycling, watching speed-skating, Formula 1, and traveling. He has been arrested about 7 times and blacklisted in 3 countries while serving in ministry. He has experienced first-hand some of the persecution faced by the persecuted church.
