WELCOME TO MOMENTUM – WINTER / SPRING 2021

Momentum is defined as the strength or force that allows something to continue or to grow stronger or faster as time passes. It is our desire to help you continue and grow in your faith. We are excited to offer a variety of classes that cover important topics. You will find many opportunities to learn to grow in your Christian walk, strengthen your faith, and share your hope in Jesus Christ. We look forward to giving you the tools necessary to get you started! Please take a minute to look over classes offered and complete the registration form. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. – 2 Timothy 2:15

THE RACE

At Northside, we call our spiritual development process “THE RACE.” Hebrews 12:1 tells us to “run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Paul said, “I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Unfortunately, many people start the race strong but never finish, either getting discouraged or hindered by the sins that easily trip us up. Our desire is that each member crosses the finish line a winner!

If you’ve ever run, you’ve probably discovered that it is more enjoyable and much easier when you are running with someone else. God never intended us to run alone—that’s the purpose of the church. In this class, we will learn about four things that unite us as we “run” together—Our Salvation Story, Our Mission/Vision/Strategy, Our Beliefs and Values, and Our Commitments. Because Northside is made up of people from many different backgrounds, this experience is intended to clearly explain who we are, what we believe, and how to get connected. Childcare (ages 11 and under) will be provided by reservation only. Completion of this class is required for membership.

It Takes Discipline (4 Sessions)

Teacher: Steve Allen

Time: 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM
Cost: None

Running a race requires discipline. Our enthusiasm will help us get started but it won’t take us across the finish line. The same is true in the Christian life. That’s why the Bible says, “Take the time and trouble to keep yourself spiritually fit.” In this class you learn the spiritual disciplines that are critical to your success in “The Race” God has called us all to run. Deadline to register for childcare is the Wednesday before the class. Prerequisite: Running Together.

Finding Your Stride (4 Sessions)

This class is designed for you to discover how your personality, gifts, passions, and life experiences can all be used to serve others. “Finding Your Stride” sets the pace for living your life to the fullest by finding what God has created you to do (Phil 3:13-14). Deadline to register for childcare is the Wednesday before the class. Prerequisite: Running Together.

Who is Jesus? Why did He come to earth? How can I know Him?

We live in a world where there’s a lot of confusion about Jesus. Too often people want to shape Him
and His message to fit their personal needs or agendas. So how can we know the truth?

Join Seamless author Angie Smith in this 8-session search for truth as she unfolds the story of our
matchless Savior—His mission, miracles, and message. Through her signature wit and accessible
style, Angie unpacks Scripture in a way that’s easy to understand, regardless of how long you’ve
been studying the Bible (a great option for new believers!). This study will deepen your understanding
of Jesus through biblical, historical, and cultural insight and help you see Him less as an iconic figure
and more as an intimate friend. Please contact Elizabeth Gressette for more information at 803-786-1482, egressette@bellsouth.net.

STUDY AT THE TABLE with Women of N

Women of N Winter Bible Study
THE BOOK OF JAMES – Francis Chan
Sign up by December 27
Study begins January 3, 2021 – March 28, 2021

Classes offered online, in person at homes, on campus at various times.

True faith produces fruit. A faith without action and without life change is ultimately a dead faith. The
book of James speaks to the realities of a living faith in Jesus—the kind of roll-up-your-sleeves and
get-your-hands-dirty discipleship that is borne out of an authentic relationship with the risen Lord.
James writes to believers who know suffering, who’ve faced trials, and who ultimately desire a deep
relationship with God.

Francis Chan unpacks the dense truth contained in the book of James in front of the iconic backdrop
of San Francisco, the city where he lives and ministers. Through 12 sessions, Francis works through
James verse-by-verse, challenging followers of Christ to move beyond a private, intellectual
knowledge of God and His Word, to a vibrant faith that impacts every square inch of life.

HOUSE OF PRAYER

When: Wednesdays (resumes January 13)

Time: 6:00 – 7:00 PM

Location: Auditorium

Today there is a desperate need for men and women of God who know how to pray: People who will not be satisfied with what they can accomplish in their power. Instead, they long to see the power and the glory of the Living God invade the Church with supernatural displays of His Deity! Jesus said, “My house shall be called a house of prayer.” The phrase house of prayer is from Isaiah 56:7, where it is used twice: “These [foreigners] I will bring to My holy mountain and give them joy in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on My altar; for My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.”

The church in Acts was birthed out of a prayer meeting. The great Revivals in America were begun with prayer! It is time for Christ-followers to fall on their knees and pray to the One who can change our country, our community, our church, our families, and our very lives through the power of the Holy Spirit.

It is clear that the place where believers worship will be a place of prayer. It is our desire that Northside will be known as a HOUSE OF PRAYER. Join Pastor Rocky as we gather for a time of prayer and worship. A time where we humble ourselves and ask our Heavenly Father to show us mercy and to anoint our lives and our church with His power! Asking for revival in our world and lifting needs in our church to the Lord. Simply come, no registration is needed.
